New Residents: Accepted for Publication

Dr. Yoon and Dr. Powell have written an article entitled "The Transition from a Pharmacy Student to a Pharmacy Resident" the article has been accepted for publication by AJAPHA. Dr. Yoon and Dr. Powell wrote about there transition from being a pharmacy student out on rotations to a pharmacy resident in the article. They provide a top ten list of needs for students to make the transition easier.

Residents complete a CE Presentation at the Annual NWPSHP CE day

The Northwest Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists (NWPSHP) recently held its annual continuing education (CE) day for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Dr. Yoon presented a CE topic entitled "Simvastatin and Amiodarone - I Feel Your Pain" and Dr. Powell also presented a CE topic entitled "SSRIs and Hyponatremia - What do we do now?" Dr. Yoon focused on the new FDA warnings attached to Simvastatin and Dr. Powell focused on the cause of SSRI induced hyponatremia.

Ongoing resident research in focus at ASHP Midyear

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Annual Midyear Meeting is fast approaching and both Dr. Yoon and Dr. Powell have posters and abstracts accepted for presentation at the meeting. Dr. Yoon will be presenting her ongoing research entitled "Effectiveness of an intravenous heparin protocol at Millcreek Community Hospital" and Dr. Powell will be presenting her ongoing research entitled "Drug utilization evaluation of patient variables leading to the administration of olanzapine orally-disintegrating tablets for acute agitation in a community hospital."
