Drug Information and Research Rotation

Rotation Description:
The Drug Information and Research Rotation is a one month and a longitudinal experience for the residents. A drug information center covers a wide array of services and functions, sometimes not obvious to the people not involved with DI. The residents will learn to assume the responsibilities of a DI pharmacist and the other aspects of a drug information center, its business aspects as well as its professional coverage. The resident will take part in the enhancement and improvement of the DIC if appropriate
The residents will be able to:
Assume coverage for the basic functions of a DIC.
Familiarize with different sources/data base of drug information.
Familiarize with the technology involved in a DIC.
Learn to respond effectively and appropriately to a drug information request.
Appreciate the various responsibilities of a DI pharmacist and a DIC.
Participate in P&T committee preparation.
Prepare a business plan to provide a DIC service.
Perform a CQI.
The resident will have to know:
All the disease states
The techniques of answering DI questions
The legal and ethical implications involving a DIC
